NORDIC CONFERENCE
This year ANTI Festival hosts a Nordic conference. This is an oppor- tunity for Nordic artists, curators, critics and academics to discuss the various challenges of creating and supporting contemporary performance and live art in our region and beyond.
Conference presentations and discussion themes include:
• Text-based performance and the Nordic context; what does it mean to create language-based work in ‘The North’ where languages do not have the same level of internationalism as, for example, English?
• What are the present challenges to the international visibility of con- temporary Nordic performance practice?
• What collaborative models of support and co-commissioning might best facilitate the creation and touring of contemporary Nordic per- formance practice?
• What modes of circulation and networking can best support individu- als, venues and arts organisations involved in contemporary perform- ance practice across the Nordic region?
Presentations and talks are given by a wide range of Nordic organisa- tions and artists including Pilvi Porkola (Esitys –the Finnish performance journal, Finland), Maija Hirvanen (Edge of Europe, Finland), Living Art Museum (Iceland), Agnes Nedregard (Nordic Tantrum, Forum for Nordic Performance Art, Norway), Suvi Nurmi (Finland), Annette Arlander (Theatre Academy, Finland), SU-EN (Sweden), Johannes Blomqvist (Sverigefinska folkhögskolan, Sweden) and the Nordic keðja project.
