Replay – a city through a role play

Manuel Vason is one of those few photographers who have specialized in capturing live-art through photos. His working method cannot be defined as documentation as the performances captured by him are only made for his camera. Vason has collaborated with, for example, Ron Athey, Franco B, Kira O’Reilly, Guillermo Gomez-Pena, Anne Seagrave and Kris Canavan.
Manuel Vason was born in Italy in 1974. Since 1998, he is residing in the UK and he currently works throughout the world. The exhibition Pure Collaboration has been produced in Finland by the photo gallery VB-valokuvakeskus and the ANTI -festival.

Replay by Juha-Allan Ekholm is an exhibition about visual explorations in a city seen through a role play and where the cultural history, game and reality get mixed. Furthermore, this exhibition is based on the role play Todellinen kaupunki (Real city) previously played at the ANTI -festival in 2004. The photos invite us on a journey to a parallel reality where our vision is directed by dream images, various emotional states and hidden meanings. The material of the exhibition has been shot in 2004 – 2006.
