Some place might make you laugh. Some place will make you think. Somewhere you will not find art at all. You will walk through the city with a headset on. You will breath the same air with the artist. Somewhere you perhaps will feel strange pleasure. You will not even dare to enter somewhere. Somewhere you might get shocked. You may discover a slight disorder.
17 artists from all over the world. If you’ll be there, you’ll surely be surprised.
The venues of the fifth ANTI Festival will be Kuopio City Hall, Vainölänniemi Tennis Court, Youth Center 44, Hotel Puijonsarvi, Huuhanmäki Observatory, Cinema Maxim, an empty property on Tasavallankatu, balcony of the Carlson department store, Kuopio airport, Savonia University of Applied Sciences, Health Professions Kuopio, an apartment mediated by the real estate agency Huoneistokeskus and the office of Reijo Kela.
ANTI expands and improves. We have started a development and training project of the ANTI - Contemporary Art Festival on April 1, 2006 and it will continue until May 31, 2007. This project is administered by the Savonia University of Applied Sciences, Kuopio Academy of Music and Dance and it is sponsored by the State Provincial Office of Eastern Finland and the structural funds of the European Union. Project Co-ordinator Mirka Niskala and Project Assistant Mervi Luonila are involved in this project.
Within the project, we will produce new content for the institutions of culture-related studies in Eastern Finland in co-operation with the institutions and create new job opportunities for the artists and experts and increase the knowledge of the concept of live art on the regional and national level. A concrete goal of the project is to produce a publication and a dvd based on the material documented by the ANTI – Contemporary Art Festival in 2002-2006.
Within the same framework, we organised an event TALKS and DEEDS, on April 21, 2006, including artists Kris Canavan and Maija Hirvanen of the visiting artists of the festival this year. The second T&D event will be organised in the autumn 2006 and the third event in the spring 2007. This way we will be able to extend reachability of live art to be available throughout the year.
Finally, our own reachability has also improved: our new office is located on the shore of Kallavesi in the address Koljonniemenkatu 2, 2. krs, 70100 Kuopio.
